Andrew Stack

Detective Andrew Stack is a 17-year veteran of the New York City Police Department and has been assigned to the Intelligence & Counterterrorism Bureau since 2018. Det. Stack currently coordinates all domestic and foreign dignitary visits to New York City. As a member of the Dignitary Management team, he is responsible for arranging all aspects of their visit from transportation, threat assessment, resource allocation, and site security.

Det. Stack plays an integral role in large-scale events such as The United Nations General Assembly, Fleet Week, New Year’s Eve Times Square Celebration, Parades, and other special operations. Additionally, He developed inter-governmental agency policy on how to handle dignitary visits. Since 2018

Det. Stack has been the lead for the Intelligence Division’s UNGA operations team which spearheads the allocation of department resources for the largest world gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly. The team manages motorcade and site details for the annual NSSE event which often consists of over 200 details in 2 weeks. In addition to well-known dignitary details, he has been directly responsible and participated in High Treat Motorcades for protectees including, The President of the United States and HVDs such as El Chapo.

Det. Stack is also the lead for a US Senator’s Security Detail which he has been a member of since 2017. He also holds the following additional training and qualifications; NYS Certified in Methods of Instructions 2019, US State Department Basics in Dignitary Protection Course, US Air Marshall Training 2020, Policing a Democracy, Terrorism Awareness and Response
Basic Life Support and Trauma Treatment, Disorder Control Training, Counterterrorism Bureau Awareness, and Response, Counterterrorism U.A.S. (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Drone Awareness, Critical Decision-Making.

As the Lead Instructor for the NYPD’s Dignitary Protection Course since 2020, Det. Stack has created the current NYPD Dignitary Protection Course which is required for any member assigned to work a dignitary detail. He has trained hundreds of NYPD officers of all ranks in dignitary protection protocols and procedures. Additionally, he has trained law enforcement professionals from over 140 different agencies across the country, and internationally on protective operations.

Detective Andrew Stack attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence Rhode Island where he graduated in 2007. He has been married to his wife, Hope for 14 years, and has 2 sons, Parker and Camden. When he is not working, you can find him coaching his 2 kids’ football and baseball teams.
